The UCSB Actuarial Association and the Data Science Club are proud to jointly present the DEI conference in the first Friday of February. The event will be comprised of many professionals in the actuarial science, data science and consulting industries and discuss their paths and journeys to success. The event is not only a way to hear how people from various backgrounds have succeeded in their respective fields, but also a great way to network with fellow students and professionals as well!
Join us to hear various speakers from different backgrounds discuss different topics about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the data science industry. Lunch will be served!
Alejandro Ortega is the founder of the OLA (Organization of Latino Actuaries). He is also an instructor for The Infinite Actuary’s CAS Exam 7 course, and has decades of experience in the actuarial field. Ortega earned his FCAS designation in 2006 and became a CFA in 2007.Rushmore Cervantes is a career consultant at Lee Hect Harrison. He formerly worked for the City of Los Angeles for more than 25 years in various positions, and has more than 20 years of management experience.Anna Theogarajan is the Talent Development and Inculsion Strategist for the County of Santa Barbara. She was formerly the Academic Coordinator for the Statistics and Probability department here at UCSB.Ronald Gebhardtsbauer is the head of the Actuarial Program at Penn State University. He earned his FSA with the Sociey of Actuaries in 1978 and is a member of the Sexuality and Gender Aliance of Actuaries (SAGAA).Scott Gordon is the Executive Vice President of Identity & Attribute Data Solutions at Adstra, a data solutions compnay. He formerly worked in leadership positions at Experian and TransUnion, building and implementing innovative data solutions for customers.
